Ziro, Mar 27: Minister Agriculture, Horticulture etc Er. Tage Taki reviewed the preparedness and public awareness on Covid-19 for Lower Subansiri district here at the DC chambers on Friday.
DMO Dr. Tage Kano while briefing the district preparedness, reiterated the need for maintaining social distancing and home quarantine of the people who have come from outside the state.
“All our preparations will go in vain if we are unable to track and monitor the health conditions of these people,” he added while requesting the NGOs and village welfare committee members to help the District Administration and the District Health Society to trace these people, especially those who arrived at Ziro before the commencement of thermal screening procedure at Yazali from March 21 and the cases requiring special interventions. “The entire Ziro plateau has been divided into four zones each of which is being manned by a magistrate, doctor and a few health workers. These teams are responsible for tracking and monitoring the quarantined people,” he informed. “However, the barricades erected by almost all the villages to prevent trespassing during the lockdown period has prevented our teams from carrying out their duties,” he said while requesting the village welfare committee members to allow passage to these teams. Responding to barricade issue, Taki directed all concerned for erecting temporary gates with signages. “There shouldn't be any restrictions on the movement of medical, administration or police teams,” he opined. “However, social distancing is more important than erecting gates,” he added and appealed all the denizens of Ziro to stay at home. He further suggested for appointing supervisors in all the clans to identify people with travel history and inform the Nodal Officer Covid-19 for the follow-up monitoring. “The identification process should be done telephonically,” he added while cautioning the volunteers and supervisors against moving around in the villages. Taki also provided Rs. 2 lakhs for procurement of essential requirements for the health workers. Deputy Commissioner Chukhu Takar, SP Dr. Hemant Tiwari, ADC Nending Chatung, TSD Pesident Hage Tado, representatives from AYA, ASU and Village Development Committees attended the meeting which was arranged as per social distancing norms.
