MECHUKHA, Apr 9: Minister for Agriculture, Horticulture, Veterinary and Fisheries Tage Taki today inaugurated the Trout Fish Farm and Raceways at Dorjeeling village in presence of State Assembly Speaker Pasang D Sona and Directors of Fisheries,  Agriculture, Horticulture and Veterinary. 
While appreciating the beauty of Mechukha, the Minister said that besides being one of the best tourist hotspots in the State, the place is also endowed with lots of  potentials for growth and development of Agri, Horti and allied sectors. 
He however stressed that development shouldn't take place haphazardly and disturb the natural environment. 
 Nature has given you so much and it is your responsibility to protect it, the Minister said while suggesting  the people go for sustainable horti, agri and allied activities for income generation with the help of scientific methodology. 
All my departmental officers are working hard to identify the allied activities that can be taken up in the area as per existing climatic and other and conditions, the Minister informed and sought for cooperation from the public.
Informing that pisciculture is one of the promising industries across the world, Taki informed that his department is working on to make Mechukha an exclusive place for trout farming. 
Adding that Mechukha's climatic condition, river temperature and all other factors are very good and favourable for trout farming, the Minister stated that  efforts should be for quality production and not for quantity. 
Growth of trout will not only help in income generation for local people but also boost the adventure tourism, the Minister said while informing that angling is one of the much sought after adventure activities today. 
He called upon the youths of the area to come forward and take up such sustainable activities for self employment.
Earlier, the Minister along with Directors and HoDs of line departments visited the Lamang Border Post and interacted with the ITBP and Army Jawans.
