RONO HILLS, Jun 10: Rajiv Gandhi University has successfully conducted the meetings of its statutory bodies, the Academic Council and the Executive Council on June 8 and 10 respectively through a blended mode amid the prevailing pandemic.
Among the various significant decisions taken in the meetings, syllabi for undergraduate courses under Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) prepared by the Board of Undergraduate Studies (BUGS) of respective departments were approved. It’s relevant to mention that CBCS will be replacing the existing curriculum at undergraduate level from the forthcoming 2021-22 academic session. In addition to this, keeping in view of the Covid situation and for the larger academic interests of prospective candidates planning to pursue various PG and UG courses, RGU has increased the intake capacity in various departments and disciplines for the 2021-22 academic session. The meeting also resolved to submit a viable proposal for establishment of a Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) in the campus for the benefit of the university community and its adjoining population.
Chairing both the meetings, VC Professor Saket Kushwaha said that despite the severity of the pandemic situation, RGU is moving forward smoothly with all its routine activities including academics and examinations in online/blended modes. It’s pertinent to add that despite the pandemic, interviews for promotion of faculty members to various positions under Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) were held in May last and the Executive Council approved the recommendations of the Selection and Screening-cum-Evaluation Committees. A total of 6 professors, 10 Associate Professors, 17 Assistant Professors and 1 Assistant Librarian were promoted as per UGC guidelines.
The Academic Council has also approved temporary affiliation of seven colleges as per recommendations of the Inspection Committees. RGU PR
