ITANAGAR, Jul 3:A Mobile Inspection Team (MIT) comprising of the Controller, Department of Legal Metrology & Consumer Affairs alongwith senior officers from HQ and West Zone office, Yupia conducted a surprise inspection of packing unit, Distilleries and beverages around the Capital Complex under the leadership of Parliamentary Secretary for Legal Metrology & Consumer Affairs, Laisam Simai.

The inspection was carried out to check net content of packaged commodities specially, drinking water and beverages being packed in this Capital township. Simai inspected the packing units alongwith his departmental officers to ascertain the quality and net content of water and alcoholic beverages being packed by local industries namely, M/s NEFA Breweries Pvt. Ltd. at Nirjuli, M/s Polo International, P-Sector, Nirjuli and M/s Renu Beverages at BageTinali.

The  Parliamentary Secretary, who is very much interested in streamlining the trading establishments in adopting procedural norms and maintaining Legal Metrology Packaged Commodities Rules & Regulations, maximum retail price, declared content in packages, has inspected the packing units as also the norms adopted by this Manufacturing & Packing Industries in order to pass on maximum benefits to the consumers.

Expressing satisfaction on the packing norms adopted by the establishments, he also appealed to the youths and business community to establish more such industries throughout the State which would not only boost the trade and commerce industries but also generate considerable employment in this developing State. He also appealed the people and consumers in general to come forward and register complaints to Legal Metrology & Consumer Affairs Department for redressal of their grievances through appropriate fora.
