ITANAGAR, Sep 16: The month-long training program under Gandhi Global Solar Yatra (GGSY) which aimed to train and sensitize students of around 22 schools under capital complex about climate change and use of solar energy successfully concluded here today.
The “Solar Ambassadors workshop” is a part of the Gandhi Global Solar Yatra (GGSY) wherein students of various government schools across the state will be given hands-on training in the assembly of solar study lamps.
Addressing the students, Arunachal Pradesh State Council for Science & Technology (APSCST), Director C D Munyak made a call for switching to renewable energy to combat energy crisis and mitigate climate change.
He also raised awareness about looming dangers of uncontrolled use of fossil fuel-based energy and stressed on the need for conservation of energy to check global warming and promotion of mass use of solar-powered equipment.
“So far we have covered 22 schools and trained around 4500 students across the state on simple and practical renewable energy usages. In addition, distributed around 3500 solar lamps to trained students,” Munyak said.
Itanagar Science Center Curator Dr. Vivek Kumar informed that on the last day of the training program around 150 students and master trainers received hands-on assembling of solar lamp kit today.
The other activities conducted during the training program was ideation and demonstration of robotics and artificial intelligence. Newsdesk
