CHANGLANG, Dec 14: A week long training on Disaster Management organised by the District Administration in collaboration with Organisation of Disaster Managers, New Delhi kicked off at the government higher secondary school here today.
Attending as chief guest, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Devansh Yadav, appreciated the joint effort put forward by both teachers and students in resuming normal classes by following SOPs during the pandemic. Informing about the recent crowd funding initiative taken up by him, the DC urged students to try excelling in academic field assuring that similar help will be extended to such students in near future.
Speaking on various natural calamities witnessed by Changlang District, he exhorted students to grasp the ideas being imparted through the training to become disaster resilient.
Later, the team headed by Vinod Bhardwaj, President, Organisation of Disaster Managers taught several effective techniques useful during natural calamities involving teachers and students of the school including Live demonstration on creating makeshift stretcher using locally available materials and ways to rescue injured and unconscious persons in case of catastrophe.
Later, the team also undertook safety audit of the school building and explained preparation of School Disaster Management Plan and Landslide preparedness.
Earlier, DDMO Dorjee Khandu in his key note address informed about natural calamities affecting the district.
