PALIN, May 17: The All Kra Daadi District Students Union (AKDDSU) has temporarily suspended the proposed 24 hours and 48 hours district bandh call scheduled on May 20 and 31 respectively, following an assurance by the Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board (APSSB) to advertise 18 MTS posts under different departments before May 20.
AKDDSU president Pakyum Talop told reporters that the Board has advertised the 14 LDC posts after the first phase of a 12-hours district shutdown on May 10. Accordingly, the Board has also assured to advertise the 18 MTS before May 20.
He said that the 9 UDC posts will also be advertised very soon but the deadline is not provided yet.
“The suspension of the band call came during an executive meeting of the union. The extension of two week lockdown in the Itanagar Capital Region is also another reason for the suspension,” he said.
When questioned on the other two demands of the union for establishment of a fire station and allocation of funds for the construction of a multipurpose educational counseling centre, Talop said due to the lockdown in ICR, the proposed meeting with the authority concerned has been put on hold.
He said that after the lockdown, the union along with the executive members will soon meet the concerned authority to discuss their demands.
“If the APSSB fails to advertise the remaining post within the lockdown period, the union will continue the movement with a stronger approach,” he said, appealing to the state government to fulfill their other two demands.
