ITANAGAR, Jul 3: Arunachal Students' Union Shillong (ASUS) IPR secretary Degio Tapir has succumbed to his injuries on Friday following an alleged hit and run case at Sagalee. The incident happened on Friday at around 6 am when late Tapir was on his way to Itanagar from his native village, Bana in East Kameng.
An FIR has been lodged at the Sagalee PS over the incident and the ASUS has demanded that the culprit be identified and arrested within 24 hours.
ASUS president Nabam Khoda in the FIR stated that as per eye witnesses, late Tapir could have been saved had the culprit not absconded after the incident.
Meanwhile, members of the ASUS, All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU), All India Arunachal Students' Union's Federation (AIASUF), and others today held a condolence meeting at AAPSU office here. The attendees of the condolence programme remembered late Tapir, who was also an AIASUF member, as a true gentleman, budding and active social workers, and stated that his presence had always lifted the morale of his fellow members in solving various social issues.
They also extended their condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.
