NAHARLAGUN, Sep 22:   The women cell of All Nyishi Students Union (ANSU) in collaboration with the All Lower Subansiri District Students Union (ALSDSU) organized 'World Rose Day for Cancer' at Tertiary Cancer centre, TRIHMS here on Wednesday.
Speaking to reporters, State Nodal Officer for Cancer Control Programme, Dr Sam Tsering informed that the day is celebrated to remember one Melinda Rose who suffered from a very rare form of cancer. According to doctors, Melinda could only survive for a week from the dreadful disease.
The day is also marked to spread awareness about the disease and for welfare of cancer patients. On this day, hand-made roses, gifts, and cards are usually offered to cancer patients to spread hope and cheer into their lives as they face the fierce battle, he said thanking the student’s body for encouraging and visiting the cancer centre.
General Secretary ANSU (Women Cell) Joram Minu said that the day was celebrated to encourage as well as motivate the cancer patients to fight against the disease and to overcome it.She said the team distributed fruits and roses to patients and staff of the Tertiary Cancer centre, TRIHMS.
