ES Reporter ITANAGAR, Sep 4: The Arunachal Pradesh Hawkers and Street Vendors Association (APHSVA) have denounced the claim made by Arunachal Motor Transport Federation that the vendors' community illegally occupied a government land near Ganga by constructing a structure over it.

In a press conference, its president, Khoda Yaji quashed the allegations and clarified that the temporary structure was constructed with permission and relief amount given by district administration to shelter the vendors after their old structure got destroyed in a storm during the last monsoon season.

She also asserted that vendors are ready to move out from the place if DA earmarked another place somewhere within the radius of Ganga.

However, she categorically affirmed not to vacate the place until the district administration draws out a proper rehabilitation plan for the street vendors.

General secretary, Roger Nabam Hina asked the Motor Federation to refrain from levelling such unwarranted charges of grabbing of government properties saying that they must stop playing with the livelihood of the hawkers.

He also refuted the allegations that the street vendors are obstructing the ongoing four-laning of the highway.

"We adhered to district administration order and all the three market sheds at Ganga also does not fall under the RoW of the highway," he added.

He said that the allegations are blown out of proportion with an ulterior motive.
