Aalo, Oct 28: To commemorate the first death anniversary of Taken Pakam Lobom, the former HGB popularly known as Pedong Kenbo, a 14-feet Statue of Communal Harmony was unveiled today at his native village Logum Jini.
Pakam, died on October 26, 2019 at Aalo and the statue has been erected in memory of his powerful legacy and selfless community services rendered within West Siang district and beyond. Born in 1924, he was a distinguished social worker, patriot, philanthropist, orator and a proponent of tribal faith and culture. Besides being a messenger of communal harmony throughout his life, Late Pakam was a  pioneer in traditional and judicial Keba and during his lifetime, he solved various disputes through Bogum-Boka traditional Kebas and succeeded in maintaining peace and harmony among various tribes of the then Siang Frontier Division. He is remembered till today for his role as a messenger of peace in controlling communal riots among tribes in 2004. DIPRO
