TEZU, Apr 17: The state took a collective sigh of relief as the lone Covid-19 patient was discharged from hospital.
Friday morning, Medical Superintendent, Zonal Hospital Tezu, Dr C Tayang after completing the basic formalities handed over the discharge sheet to the patient.
“The patient was escorted up to Parsuram Kund for a further fourteen-day quarantine where his family has also been kept and a doctor from Wakro CHC will take care of them,” he informed.
“We have also carried out complete fumigation of the isolation room which will remain closed till any patient is admitted,” he added.
After full recovery of the state’s lone Covid-19 positive patient, accolades are now overflowing from various organizations, unions and individuals on social media for the frontline warriors who handled the case.
“We should acknowledge the pivotal role played by these frontline heroes in protecting the lives of the people of Lohit district and state from the pandemic and it will also motivate and inspire many other frontline fighters,” local MLA Karikho Kri said. “I will approach the state government to honour the DMO, team of doctors and staff for their exemplary role in taking the patient to the path of recovery and thereby saving the valuable lives of Tezu-Sunpura,” he added.
DIG (Vet) ITBP Lohitpur Sudhakar Natarajan on social media wrote: “Virulent catastrophe averted in Lohit and a loud sigh of relief. The virus travelled all the way from Wuhan to South East Asia and finally into Medo in Lohit district of Arunachal via Delhi Nizamuddin Markaz. Had the person not been traced and cured, it would have been a catastrophe. DMO and the entire frontline team worked under intense pressure despite poor healthcare facilities. They deserve reward and state government should recognize their exemplary services and felicitate them accordingly.”
Extending deep appreciation, General Secretary of the Cultural & Literary Society of Mishmi (CALSOM) Suraj Tayang lauded the DMO and entire team. “The Covid warriors who were in the forefront combating round the clock should be awarded handsomely,” he opined.
