ITANAGAR, Jul 2: The Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) has expressed deep sorrow and anguish over the two recent incidents involving the death of a school girl in Tezu and that of domestic violence in Dumporijo.
APSCW while expressing concern over the recovery of dead body of a missing school girl at Tezu, spoke to SP Tezu over telephone who informed that post mortem had been completed and investigation is under process.
Further, acting on the information received from a Women NGO regarding a domestic violence case of Dumporijo, Upper Subansiri district, Commission spoke to the Officer-in-Charge Dumporijo to learn about the latest developments. OC informed that the alleged accused, the victim’s husband has been arrested on June 30 with an FIR lodged at Dumporijo police station and is currently under judicial custody. The victim is undergoing treatment at capital’s RK Mission Hospital. Taking suo moto cognizance of both the cases under Section 16 (b) of APSCW Act 2002, APSCW has sought status reports from the Superintendent of Police, Tezu, and Officer-in-Charge Dumporijo and requested them for proper investigation of the cases for delivering justice to the victims. It has also requested all sections of society to cooperate with the police in the above cases. 
Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society also met the survivor of domestic violence from Upper Subansiri on Tuesday.
The woman who is currently undergoing treatment at RKM Hospital, Itanagar was assaulted by her husband after she objected to his second marriage. 
Apwws said that polygamy which is prevalent in Arunachalee society is the root cause of many problems with children and women becoming the worse sufferers. Due to social sanction granted to polygamy, the number of cases are rising in the state, APWWS said while seeking strong law against those who indulge in polygamy.
