BANDERDEWA, May 13: In a noble gesture towards the people of different states currently stranded in Arunachal Pradesh, state government on Wednesday facilitated a bus service which transported at least 60 Manipuri people back to their home state.
“These Manipur residents who remained stranded during lockdown were evacuated through the three check gates of Dirak, Namdang and Banderdewa,” informed the Nodal Officer for stranded people cum Director Disaster Management Abu Tayeng. Through   Banderdewa 19 people were evacuated, he informed, adding that SOPs like social distancing, screening before boarding and sanitization of the bus were followed.
The Nodal Officer further divulged that this is the first phase of the evacuation process. “I am the In-charge of the three Northeast states of Nagaland, Manipur and Mizoram and so we are coordinating with the respective governments to evacuate these stranded students and others. The evacuation process is expected to be completed by May 16 next,” he stated.
Meanwhile, with the last bus reaching today from Mizoram, the process of evacuating the Arunachalees hitherto stranded in Nagaland, Mizoram and Manipur has been completed, the Nodal Officer informed.
