ITANAGAR, Jul 24: State Surveillance Officer-IDSP Dr. L Jampa while addressing the daily virtual press briefing on Friday informed that till date more than 44,986 samples have been collected in the state through various mode like RT PCR, TrueNat and Rapid Antigen Testing.
While informing that the state’s recovery rate after slight improvement is currently 33.07 %, Dr. Jampa added that 27% of the positive tally comprises personnel from military, paramilitary, BRO and Civil police, which in figure is at least 312.
“In view of the spike of Covid-19 cases among the defence personnel, we had a meeting with the officials and suggested them to have antigen testing at their base camp in Assam before entering Arunachal Pradesh,” Dr Jampa divulged, adding that if required, all technical support and kits will be provided by the state Health Department.
As there is a lack of accommodation in the quarantine facilities, the forces have been suggested by the state government to come up with their own quarantine centres at their respective camps, the SSO informed.
Sharing the data on testing kits, he disclosed that at least 1.65 lakh Rapid Antigen Test kits have been received and distributed to various districts and check gates and a number of private hospitals in the ICR such as RKM Hospital, Heema Hospital and Niba Hospital have also been covered.
While expressing confidence that testing facilities at check gates and districts will help in identifying and containing the virus’s spread,  Dr Jampa  endorsed the policy of home quarantine for the asymptomatic patients.
“Asymptomatic cases are rising and as we have limited resources for quarantine facilities, with proper SOPs the asymptomatic patients can observe the mandatory quarantine norms from their homes,” he stated.
Reiterating the Health Department’s goal of breaking the chain and erasing the stigma attached with the pandemic, Dr Jampa, however, clarified that not every asymptomatic patient will be asked to go for home quarantine.
“It is only after proper medical examination by the health experts and evaluation of feasibility in terms of maintenance of SOPs, the asymptomatic patients will be allowed for home quarantine,” he asserted.
