ITANAGAR, Oct 9: After much criticism from various quarters over the poor performance of students in the CBSE examinations, the Department of Education has pulled up its socks to improve the results in the future. Now the Directorate of Secondary Education has issued notice to all the deputy director of school education (DDSEs) informing them about the introduction of pre-board examination in class X and XII.
Speaking to media, Director Secondary Education Gania Leij said that the department has already circulated the notification to every DDSE to be prepared for the pre-board examination.
‘Since last many years we have seen poor performance in CBSE results, so from this academic session we have decided to conduct pre-board examination for class X and XII either in December end or in the first week of January every year,” informed the Director. He also added that examination will be held centrally and only for those who are admitted in Government schools. “Performance of private institutions is near about good so initially pre-board will be applicable only in government schools,’ stated Leij.
The Director said that students should secure minimum 33 per cent marks in every subject and should have 80% attendance in classroom to clear the pre-board  examination.
“State cabinet has already approved the pre-board examination in August this year, however, notification was issued only in September,” said the Director.
While claiming shortage of teachers as one of the major reasons for poor results, the Director asserted that the Cabinet has already approved recruitment of more than 1100 PGT/TGT teachers. However among the 1100 teachers, 50% will be recruited under APPSC and another 50% appointed on promotion basis.
“We are hoping that with the recruitment of 1100 teachers the problem of shortage will at least come down,” he added.
