ITANAGAR, NOV 26: The State Janata Dal (United) President Ruhi Tagung today informed that the party has served 14-day suspension and show cause notices to three of its MLAs namely Dorjee Wangdi Kharma (Kalaktang), Kanggong Taku (Mariyang-Geku) and Dongru Siongu (Bomdila).
Elaborating on the reasons for the disciplinary action, Ruhi while addressing the media persons today said that a committee of six JDU MLAs has elected the new JDU legislature party leader Talem Taboh without the knowledge of the State President and party legislature leader Techi Kaso, the Itanagar MLA. Claiming the move 'anti-party' activity, the JDU State President has demanded a justification from these three MLAs for their action within two weeks from the date of issue of the suspension order with an explanation why further actions should not be taken against them.
Responding to the query on absorption of JDU MLAs with the state BJP, the State JDU President while categorically denying the information, clarified that both the JDU and BJP are partners in the alliance at the Centre and even the recent Bihar election has reinforced the friendship between the two parties. “Why the state BJP will accept the JDU MLAs when they are already part of the NDA alliance,” Ruhi reasoned.
The State JDU President further announced that the party will field its candidates in all the 20 Corporator seats of the Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) and issue tickets for the Panchayat polls.
“We have already selected eight candidates as the first instalment to whom the party will give tickets for contesting as Corporators in IMC polls,” he added.
