TEZU, Mar 15: In a significant development that raises concerns over project mismanagement, the Arunachal Pradesh government has initiated process to terminate the contract of M/s T.K. Engineering Consortium Private Limited, the firm responsible for constructing the much-awaited outdoor stadium at Tezu.
This revelation came during the recently concluded Budget session when MLA of Tezu-Sunpura Constituency, Dr. Mohesh Chai, sought an update on the project's progress from Minister Sports and Youth Affairs, Government for Arunachal Pradesh.
In a written response, the concerned Minister disclosed that the stadium's construction began in 2018, but with the proposed termination of the contract, the project's completion timeline now hangs in uncertainty. The delay has caused growing frustration among locals, as the stadium was expected to enhance sports infrastructure and provide better facilities for youth and athletes in the region.
Further raising eyebrows, the Minister revealed detailed financial figures associated with the project. The total tender cost value of the stadium stands at a whopping ₹36,10,00,000. Out of this, the government has already sanctioned ₹ 27,01,41,000 crore, and ₹26,01,41,000 crore (including taxes) has been paid to the construction firm. This leaves only ₹1 crore with the department, while an additional ₹ 9,08,59,000 crore is yet to be released by the government.
