ITANAGAR, Nov 26: Arunachal Pradesh State Council for Science & Technology celebrated Vigyan Utsav as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav today under one month one theme. 
The theme for the month of November is “R&D Infrastructure.
Vigyan Utsav, a PAN India initiative has been planned by Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India in collaboration with State Science & Technology Councils to showcase country's Science Technology & Innovation (STI) ecosystem for Atma Nirbhar Bharat. 
In his introductory remarks Director cum Member Secretary, C.D. Mungyak, highlighted the initiative of A.P. State Council for Science & Technology, Department towards R&D infrastructure in the state. He advocated for setting up of the Model Multidisciplinary Research and Educational Universities that are sought to be built with focus on research with a multi-disciplinary approach and is the need of hour. 
In a special address Dr.Mihir Sarkari, Director, ICAR-NYRC, Dirang highlighted the research activity of National Yak Research Centre, Dirang and informed that NYRC had registered first breed of Indian Yak Arunachali and technology developed to combat winter feed scarcity. He also highlighted the different initiatives of NYRC-Dirang for welfare of herders such as insurance of Yak herds, and bankable farming. 
Dr. Mantu Bhuyan, Principle Scientist, CSIR-NEIST, Jorhat, highlighted the STINER-TFC Hub & Spokes, Technology Intervention Approach with special focus on Farmer entrepreneurship, Food Processing, Apiculture, Bamboo Germ-plasm etc. And also informed that technology has been developed to make egg tray from paper waste, bamboo house etc.
Dr. T. Madhan Mohan, Consultant Adviser, DBT, APSCST, CoE, BSD, Kimin, highlighted the importance and schemes of DBT and infrastructure available at DBT, APSCST, Kimin. He also highlighted about the skill vigyan programme for students and farmers.
Several participants from Arunachal Pradesh and other states joined the programme virtually.
