ITANAGAR, Nov 8: The Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has condemned the alleged incident of sexual assault of a minor boy by a monk in the Arunachal Pah Vidyapeeth at Chowkham in Namsai. The incident was reported through the Childline service at Namsai.
The Commission has taken suo moto cognizance of the case and contacted the Supdt of Police, Namsai district for seeking the status report of the case. It was informed that a case U/S 377/506 IPC R/W Sec 6 of POCSO Act, 2012 has been registered at PS Chongkham vide PS NO. 19/2021 in the instant case.
Gumri Ringu, Chairperson APSCPCR also contacted Deputy Commissioner Namsai, R K Singh and demanded that a detailed investigation on the Arunachal Pali Vidyapeeth Institute be conducted for unearthing of possibilities of any other victims and perpetrators under similar offence. The DCPO Namsai has been directed to provide necessary counseling to the minor victim at the earliest and follow up of the case. 
The rising number of incidences of such condemnable crime against children in the state is a matter of grave concern especially when the innocent minors are subject to such atrocities by persons under whose care they have been entrusted to, the Commission said.
It further appealed to all the Deputy Commissioners and the District Child Protection Officers to make frequent inspection visits to all educational institutes, especially those with residential facilities under their jurisdiction. Further the APSCPCR also requested the Commissioner Education to issue necessary directives to all the private schools in the state to conduct mandatory police verification of all the staff, both teaching and non-teaching staff, employed under their respective school administration, and make it available to be scrutinized during surprise inspections conducted in the schools by authorized personnel from time to time.
