ITANAGAR, Jan 4: Arunachal Pradesh State Board Examination (APSBE) for Class V and VIll will be held from 12th February 2019, informed Director Elementary Education Tapi Gao.
“Keeping in mind to bring quality education in the state, the No detention policy has been abolished after feedback from various sections of society,” informed the Director while justifying the introduction of APSBE. He further added that to clear the APSBE, students have to score minimum 33 Marks out of 100. However students who failed to score the minimum marks, have to appear in compartment examination to be held in April next.
While giving more details about the examination, Gao divulged that no internal marks will be provided to students as earlier and so they have to score minimum 33 marks to clear the examination.
Further responding to query, the Director also informed that those students who failed to score pass mark even in Compartmental examination will be re-admitted to original class.
When asked about availability of teachers, Gao categorically claimed that ‘there is no shortage of teachers as per the Teacher-Student ratio’ but accepted that the department needs teachers in science subject. On availability of Text books in elementary section, he informed that there is no scarcity of books in any schools. In fact the department has also supplied both Hindi and English grammar books pertaining to its importance, he added.
On January 3 last, Parliament approved a bill to amend a law to abolish the 'no detention policy' till Class VIII by enabling state governments to allow schools to fail students.
