ES Reporter

ITANAGAR, Sep 8: The members of the BJP state unit held their first state executive meeting after election of Biyuram Wahge as State BJP President here at the Dorjee Khandu Convention Centre on Tuesday.
The meeting was attended by leaders, members and workers of the state unit and many other members attended virtually via videoconferencing making it a semi-virtual meeting. National General Secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Bhupendra Yadav also joined the meeting through videoconferencing.
Addressing the meeting, Lok Sabha MP Tapir Gao said Arunachal Pradesh was never known as ‘South Tibet’ and condemned the phrase used by China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian. “The state was, is and shall be an integral part of India,” Gao asserted. While terming the recent abduction of five Arunachalee youths by the PLA from the state’s territory as “very saddening for the entire state as well as the nation,” he said both the state and central government should work together to bring them back safely as soon as possible. “There is no applicability of Line of Control (LOC) or Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the state but it is the McMahon line proposed by Henry McMahon at the 1914 Simla Convention which separates the state from China and both sides should respect it”, Gao stated.
During his speech, he divulged that within this month there shall be tender sanctioning for two-lane road constructions from Tato to Mechuka and Yingkiong to Migging and the party shall try for road connectivity from Daporijo to Taksing in coming years. Informing that the state has witnessed a huge drop of tax share in the financial year 2019-20, he lamented that due to the territorial conflict with China, there is no external financial assistance which is available to all other states in the country. “Even in this financial crisis, the current government has managed to handle the situation,” he remarked. Meanwhile, State BJP President Biyuram Wahge appreciated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Pema Khandu for taking timely precautions against Covid-19 and successfully fighting the virus and thanked all who are fighting the pandemic in the state. He also informed that the state BJP unit along with the state’s Yuva Morcha have distributed approximately three lakh food packages and twenty five lakh facemasks in the entire state and around fifty-six thousand people have downloaded the Aarogya Setu app in their mobiles.

The members observed a one-minute silence remembering their party colleagues who died earlier this year.
