ITANAGAR, Nov 20: A meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Ajay Chagti (IAS), Secretary, Science & Technology on  November 16 regarding easy accessibility of cloud free satellite data for various kinds of studies and analyses related to Remote Sensing and GIS. The meeting was attended by scientists of State Remote Sensing Application Centre (SRSAC), Itanagar as well members from the authorised Indian partner of Capella Space, USA.
In the meeting, Capella representative made a presentation on the capabilities of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data for various kind of studies related to Disaster Management, Defense, Route alignment, Urban Planning, Forest studies etc. Since availability of cloud-free optical satellite data is limited in Arunachal Pradesh, high resolution SAR data will be the best alternate solution for studies and analyses in the state.
Understanding the significance of high resolution SAR data in Arunachal Pradesh, Secretary (S&T) suggested to work out the modalities for signing an MOU with Capella Space, USA.
