ITANAGAR, Jul 9: In the wake of statements given by sportspersons alleging the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs of un-supportive attitude,Director Sports, Tadar Appa today clarified that the department has provided financial assistance to sportspersons and artists concern and is doing its best to promote and encourage meritorious sportspersons as per laid down norms.

In its clarification, Tadar claimed that woman bodybuilder Paklu Taipodia had applied for Rs 5 lakh and the government has already sanctioned and handed over the same amount to her last month. She was also appointed as LDC in the Forest Department under sports quota, he said while adding that the department is yet to receive application for Rs 15 lakh aid for the upcoming event international event.

Whereas  on  Junnu Pingam and  Gichik Charchang’s  Cosplay event , Government  has already sanctioned  Rs 75000 each to Miss Junnu Pingam and Miss Gichik Charchang for participating in the Cosplay event at Japan. They had sought financial help of around Rs2.00 lakh for both of them, clarified the Department.

The Director has appealed all sportspersons of the state to refrain from making any unnecessary press statements and comments in social networking sites without any authentication from the department and competent authorities.
