PASIGHAT, Mar 3: In a bid to provide promotional and marketing support to local artisans, a special handloom expo was inaugurated by the East Siang Deputy Commissioner Dr. Kinny Singh at the District Industries Office, Pasighat in presence of the PMC Chief Councilor Okiam Moyong Borang, ADTH Dadmo Riba, SDO (Sadar) Oli Perme, officers of DA and industries department on Wednesday. 
As many as 30 local groups are participating in the expo. The fourteen days expo is being organized by the Arunachal Pradesh Handloom and Handicrafts Development Society (APHHDS), sponsored by the Development Commissioner (Handloom), Ministry of Textile, GoI, with the theme “To explore unexplored traditional attires of northeastern state to encourage Vocal for Local”. 
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Kinny Singh said that the expo aims to connect the local artisans as part of the government's efforts to popularize the local handloom products. Such expo is part of the state government's regular exercise for facilitating sustainable livelihood to the local artisans by providing a common platform for marketing, she said adding that fetching remunerative price to the locals and modernization of the handloom sector was one priority agenda of the government connecting with the trading companies at the state, national and international level and promotion of their products. Singh further informed that District Administration has set up 24 stalls at the Pasighat Gidii Notko naming “Market of Prosperity” for all three blocks of East Siang District. Interested persons could apply for allotment through development branch of DC’s office. 
PMC Chief Councilor Okiam Moyong Borang in her brief speech asserted that East Siang in particular has huge potentials to grab market and all possible help and supports should be extended by the government departments.  DIPRO
