MECHUKA, Nov 6: State Legislative Assembly Speaker Pasang Dorjee Sona today visited Lamang Post, the last Indian outpost along the Indo-China border here in Shi-Yomi district and interacted with Army and ITBP personnel.
It was Sona’s first official visit to the border outpost after assuming office. During the interaction, Speaker was briefed about the road conditions and other issues pertaining to development of the border outpost. He lauded the soldiers for not only guarding the nation under extreme harsh conditions but also extending timely help to the civilians. He further suggested them to work in coordination with the civil administration for any issue pertaining to both the military establishment and civilians. While taking stock of the ongoing road construction activities from Mechuka to Lamang, Speaker expressed happiness over the progress of work.
Earlier, he also visited Yarlung outpost en route Lamang and interacted with the ITBP personnel. “Only because you are awake, we can sleep at peace,” said Sona while exchanging sweets with the jawans. He was accompanied by ADC Mechuka Bairo Sorum, SP Shi-Yomi Gothombu Dajangzu and other officials.
