MECHUKHA, Feb 1: State Assembly Speaker Pasang D Sona on Monday reviewed the progress of the construction of 150-metre permanent bridge over Yargyap Chu river to connect Singbir village in Mechukha circle in Shi-Yomi district.
The review meeting was attended by Chief Engineer (Design & Planning), Itanagar, Executive Engineer (PWD), Mechukha and representative of the work executing agency.
Taking serious note of the inordinate delay in construction of the bridge, foundation for which was laid on 24th November 2017 by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, the Speaker, who represents the Shi-Yomi district as legislator, directed the department and work executing agency to expedite the work and ensure timely completion of the project.
“There shouldn’t be a delay in construction of such an important project due to lack of coordination,” he asserted and urged the CE to send his men to inspect the site and do the needful.
The EE, Mechukha briefed about the challenges and other issues including COVID-19 pandemic which led to delay in the construction works. He however informed that work now has started taking momentum, and they are targeting to complete the project as early as possible.
