MECHUKHA, Mar 26: Assembly Speaker PD Sona has suggested the newly elected PRI members not to pick up individual-oriented schemes or projects and go for productive schemes instead that will benefit the masses.
Sona made the suggestion while addressing the first District Planning Committee Meeting of Shi-Yomi in Tato today. Emphasising on percolation of government schemes to every individual, the Speaker said that no individual-oriented scheme should be encouraged or proposed and suggested the PRI members to pick up agri/horti and allied based schemes to generate income. Reminding the PRI leaders of their responsibilities, he suggested them to attend training and meetings regularly to learn about their rights and duties. While stressing on proper maintenance of all infrastructures coming up in the district, the Speaker urged the PRI leaders to check the quality of works. He also suggested them to create awareness among villagers about hunting of wild animals which has now become a menace. Citing the Airgun Surrender Abhiyan started by the Department of Environment & Forest, the Speaker appealed all to join hands in the campaign to protect wildlife. Reiterating the need to keep the villages clean, Sona announced to start a ‘Cleanest Village Award’ from next year to encourage people about cleanliness.
Meanwhile, expressing grave concern over absenteeism of government officials especially HoDs, the Speaker directed the DC to initiate necessary action against such officials. DC Shi-Yomi Mito Dirchi while acknowledging the problems faced by the people of the newly formed district said that the initial challenges will be taken care of as the developmental activities pick momentum. However, he suggested all not to misuse the RTI Act which will only hamper developmental activities. ZPM Mechukha Maling Koje also expressed serious concern over absenteeism of government officials and requested the DC to issue a strict order in this regard.
