PASIGHAT, Oct 26: A peacock soft-shelled turtle rescued on Friday last near the APP Colony here by a group of school children was released in Siang river.
Reportedly, the rescuers namely Paktu Diyum (17), Messia Panggeng (17), Ribom Diyum (12) and Pakdi Diyum (6) spotted the turtle during their usual evening walk and later handed it over to the Forest Department. Later, the children along with DFO (T) Tashi Mize released the turtle on the same day in Siang river.
