AALO, Aug 12: The Aalo Town People’s Welfare and Development Society (ATPWDS) led by its Chairman Kento Ete on Wednesday visited the Aalo stadium construction site with the Sports Officer and Field Officer from the executing construction agency to have a first-hand assessment of the work progress.
ATPWDS while expressing dismay over the inordinate delay in completing construction works appealed the agency to start works in full swing from September as the delay has halted all sports activities which is indirectly encouraging the youths to engage in unwanted activities. The Field Officer from the construction agency disclosed that the state government has now sanctioned funds amounting to Rs. 12 crore for making payments for works already executed for three stadiums at Tezu, Aalo and Itanagar. At Aalo, works worth Rs. 6 crore are to be executed and the contractor is ready to commence work even if a payment of Rs.3-4 crore is received, the Field Officer added.
It can be recalled that the green field located in the heart of the township along with all infrastructure available around it were dismantled long back for construction of the stadium as a result of which most of the sports activities have remained disrupted and all social and National Day celebrations have to be shifted to GHSS Aalo.
