ZIRO, Jul 30: A 2-day District Level Sensitisation programme on Social Audit for the Rural Department and Panchayati Raj functionaries and PRI members of Lower Subansiri district kicked off today at DC’s Conference Hall, Hapoli.
Inaugurating the programme, Deputy Commissioner Somcha Lowang underscored the significance of social audit while implementing developmental schemes at grassroots level. It ensures a feedback mechanism from beneficiaries along with site inspections leading to corrective measures, sense of ownership amongst villagers for development activities, transparency and accountability, the DC said while exhorting the PRI members and officers to avail maximum benefit from the training. Course Coordinator from the State Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj (SIRD & PR) S.W Bagang while citing the issue of manpower shortage in the department exhorted the PRI members to be the eyes and ears of the institute through regular social audits.
The training will include technical sessions and field visits to nearby BDO offices. Technical sessions will cover the topics of social audit process, social audits for MGNREGS, PMAY, FFC, NSAP at Gram Panchayats, Blocks and district level, good governance etc. As part of field exercises, mock social audits of Gram Sabhas will be held to accustom the newly elected PRI members with the social audit process.
Among others, PD, Circle Officers cum Member Secretaries, ZPC, ZPMs and officials of the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj department attended the training programme. DIPRO
