TAWANG, Mar 11: A two-day district level sensitization training programme on Social Audit for the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj functionaries and Zila Parishad members of Tawang district began today here at the DC’s conference hall.
DC Tawang Sang Phuntsok while stating that Social Audit which is conducted by the villagers is of vital importance since it provides them a platform to share opinions on projects and an opportunity to rectify them, added that Tawang district probably has the best social audit report in the last two years. There is always scope for more improvements, he said while appealing the ZPMs and panchayat leaders to motivate and create awareness among villagers to increase agricultural produce by properly utilizing the government schemes. The target should be to produce more so that the surplus can be supplied to defence personnel and the focus should be on sustainable development for continuous income generation, the DC said.
