RONO HILLS, Jan 12: Rajiv Gandhi University Vice-Chancellor Professor Saket Kushwaha on Saturday inaugurated the varsity’s first Research Scholars’ Forum Office here at Tissa Halls of Residence.
Speaking on the occasion, VC said that very soon department classrooms will be converted into smart classrooms equipped with projectors, digital screens, microphones and speakers. “The aim behind modernization is to improve teaching-learning experience and smart classrooms will immensely benefit the students and we have plans to convert at least one classroom in each department into hi-tech ones,” VC informed. On slow-paced progress in Ph.D synopsis registration, he said that administration has set up a committee that is working on a mechanism to hold the synopsis screening in the university itself. “Sending synopsis outside the varsity is not just against the basic standard of a central university but it creates unnecessary hurdles to research scholars. However in departments where it is unfit to hold screenings, the old tradition will be followed,” VC added, also informing that scholars can now give their Ph.D thesis viva-voce through online modes, such as Skype. From the coming session onwards, semesters will also be shortened in order to reach up to the national framework, VC informed. Speaking on the importance of NIRF rankings, he advised the research scholars to play important roles in bagging a good ranking for the university. Extending his support to RGURSF, VC further assured to facilitate the forum’s office with a computer, printer, 3 almirahs, research books and other basic furniture.
RGU Registrar Professor Tomo Riba lauded the forum for the new office and advised to make its best use, also reminding the importance of research and sincerity to complete and submit thesis on time. RGURSF Chairman Reken Lollen on behalf of the forum expressed gratitude to the university administration for the office and assured to make optimum use of it. RGURSF General Secretary and Spokesperson Renu Loyi also spoke on the occasion. Earlier, VC also launched the calendar of the forum. RGU PR
