RONO HILLS, Nov 26: The 100-hour training programme on skill development in medicinal plants concluded today at Rajiv Gandhi University with distribution of certificates to the trainees.
The training programme on medicinal plants was organized jointly by Department of Botany of RGU and Arunachal ENVIS Hub, PCCF Office and Department of Environment & Forest, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, Itanagar. There were 15 participants in the above mentioned programme representing different districts which began on November 12.
Addressing the function, RGU Vice Chancellor Prof. Saket Kushwaha, emphasized on maintaining high degree of ethics while doing business with natural resources. He emphasized on skill development in medicinal plant sector as one of the priority areas in Arunachal Pradesh, and urged the trainees hailing from different parts to utilize the knowledge and skills learnt during training course in right direction and be an expert in right identification, cultivation and market linkages of medicinal plants for socio-economic benefits of the community. He also told the trainees to be model scientific farmers of medicinal plants.
PCCF (Environment & Climate Change) AK Shukla, Special Invitee, informed the trainees and students about ongoing environmental conservation and training programme. He called upon the trainees to be alert and help in sustainable harvesting and management of medicinal plant resource of the state.
RGU Registrar Prof. Tomo Riba, urged the trainees to put in practical utility of the tools and techniques learnt from master trainers and resource persons.
Head of Department of Botany, and Training Director Arunachal ENVIS-RGU Programme Dr. Hui Tag, highlighted the learning outcome of 100 hours training programme on medicinal plants and contented that knowledge and skills imparted to the trainees during such rigorous training schedule would go a long way in enhancing capacity building and sustainable management of medicinal plants in Arunachal Pradesh.
Coordinator ENVIS Hub PCCF Office, Robin Dohu briefed about relevance of Green Skill Development Programme (GSDP) in the context of Arunachal Pradesh and urged the trainees to take advantage of such training and capacity building programme.
Convener of the Arunachal ENVIS-RGU Programme Dr. Oyi Dai Nimachow also spoke on the occasion.
The top Resource Persons and Master Trainers of the training programme were individuals who are doing commendable research in medicinal plant sector of Arunachal namely Dr. Pallabi Kalita Hui, Dr. Chandan Tamuly, Dr. Budhen C Baruah, Prof. A.K Das, RGU, Prof. A.P Das.
