ITANAGAR, Nov 12: Secretary Skill Development, Onit Panyang today said that though many opportunities are in the offing for the unemployed youths of the state, the lack of skills poses as a hindrance. He termed skill development ‘need of the hour for employment generation.’
He was speaking at the inauguration of skill development training organised by the District Administration Capital Complex in collaboration with North East Frontier Headquarters ITBP at Khating hills in presence of IG ITBP Sanjeev Raina and Deputy Commissioner Capital Complex Prince Dhawan.
Panyang also stressed that the youths here need to channelise their skills and also suggested cooperative mode which has various benefits like subsidised rates. 
Briefing about various state and central sponsored schemes for the unemployed youths, he informed that more than 600 youths are currently undergoing training in various parts of the country.
He also informed that the department of Skill Development has a target of training around 8000 candidates in various skills.
The IG ITBP termed the initiative as only the beginning and sought cooperation of the Secretary to conduct such trainings at par with those organised at national level. The DC said that the State has no dearth of talent however lack of skill and lack of experience comes as a hindrance whenever opportunities are placed before the youths. He also said that there is need to learn proper organisational skills to link products with the market.
Earlier, DIG SBK Sharma also addressed the gathering.
Altogether, 54 participants are attending the training on general automobile, tailoring and plumbing.
