ITANAGAR, Feb 2: In a devastating fire incident, at least six OBT houses were reduced to ashes when a major fire broke out in the ESS Sector this afternoon.
“As soon as we received information, team of fire brigade rushed to the spot and firefighters took the situation under control.bAs per information, at least six houses were reduced to ashes, and two cylinders exploded and devoured the entire structures. However, no casualties have been reported," informed Emergency Duty Officer, Police station Itanagar, N Nishant.
The reason for the fire incident is yet to be ascertained but as per preliminary report, it could be a short-circuit from one of the houses, the officer added.
Deputy Mayor Biri Bassang also rushed to the spot and interacted with the affected families. He assured to extend all possible help and also convey to the concerned authority to confer immediate relief to the victims.
‘Everything from documents of my children to valuable local ornaments have been lost in the fire," lamented a victim while seeking assistance from the government.
