Arunachal Pradesh celebrates 40th Statehood Day
Boleng, Feb 21: Sitang residents today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at Boleng Headquarters, Siang District, in connection with the Pre-Feasibility Report (PFR) activities under the Siang Upper Multipurpose Project (SUMP).
The programme was attended by Ojing Tasing, Minister for Panchayati Raj, Rural Development, Transport, and Cooperation, Tamiyo Taga, Ex-Minister and Chairman, SUMP Development Committee; Tayi Taggu, Deputy Commissioner, Siang; Hydropower Department, represented by Komli Pakmen Mathew, among others.
Out of a total of 84 households in Sitang village, 58 households signed the MoU with the Government, expressing their consent for the conduct of PFR activities under the project.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner, Siang, highlighted the various benefits of the special developmental package envisaged for Siang District, emphasising improved infrastructure, livelihood opportunities, and overall socio-economic development.
Tamiyo Taga informed that each household would be provided financial assistance of ₹2.50 lakh under livelihood schemes covering sectors such as agriculture, horticulture, veterinary, and fisheries, aimed at strengthening economic sustainability and improving the standard of living of the local population.
In his address, Minister Ojing Tasing expressed gratitude to all the signatories for their cooperation and trust. He urged the villagers to welcome development initiatives and assured the Government’s commitment to inclusive growth and welfare of the people of Siang District. The programme concluded with a collective resolve to work towards sustainable development and progress of the district through coordinated efforts between the Government and the local community.
