ITANAGAR,Mar 11: Hundreds of people joined the six hours peaceful sit-in protest organized by the Core Committee on Kora Circle issue demanding immediate rollback of the recent cabinet decision to exclude Kora Circle from Lower Siang District at IG Park here on Friday.
Speaking to reporters, Chairman of the Committee Nyadar Loya said "The reason behind the dharna is that despite our continuous protest, the state government on February 23 last in its cabinet meeting excluded the Kora/Korang circle from Lower Siang District."
Loya termed the decision as one of the worst decisions by the state government and the people of the circle are unhappy with it. He further questioned the government on how a circle from a constituency can be drawn out in another district.
The Arunachal Pradesh (Re-organization of the district) Amendment Act 2013 has not been implemented in the state, and we appeal to implement the same. We want to retain the circle (Kora/Korang ) and are hopeful that the matter is discussed in the ensuing assembly session, he added.
