PASIGHAT, Apr 11: Pangi village in Siang district bade tearful adieu to centenarian late Yakiam Tamuk Siram, the grand-daughter of Anglo-Abor (Adi) war hero Lunrung Tamuk who passed away on April 9.
Late Yakiam who was born in the year 1917 as per oral records, was 105-years-old at the time of her death.
“She was the daughter of Tamang Tamuk, the granddaughter of the historic Anglo- Abor (Adi) warrior, Lunrung Tamuk who had murdered the British officer, Noel Williamson, the then Assistant Political Officer of Sadiya, Assam during the time of India’s war against Britishers at Komsing village on 31st March 1911. She was married to Tanung Siram, who is a centenarian himself at 102-years-old and still alive.They are legends and the first ever centenarian couple of Pangi village. They have two sons, two daughters and thirty three grand and great grand children," informs Takeng Tamuk who is a teacher.
