Indian Army conducts ‘Know Your Army’ outreach
BOLENG, Jul 21: The district administration and health department in Siang District have held several review meetings on the village-wise vaccination drive underway in the district for a month.
Ten vaccinations teams headed by Incident Commanders from district administration and accompanied by police personnel have covered 95 sites over the course of 19 days. The teams have undertaken strenuous foot-marches to Lissing, Messing, Gate, Gasheng, and Komsing villages.
A unanimous decision was reached to continue with the village-to-village programme as well as combine the twin goals of goals of ‘Test-Track-Treat’ and ‘100% Vaccinated’. Phase II of outreach sessions has already begun with surveillance accompanying vaccination teams in outreach sessions.
In a bid to utilise its social capital, the district administration has availed the assistance of all HGBs and GBs within the district to mobilise citizens for vaccination. The DC Siang has held meetings with community-based organizations including members of the indigenous faith and church leaders asking them to encourage their congregations to avail vaccination.
Marking one month since the start of outreach sessions, DRCHO Dr. Kaling Tamuk stated that with the advent of village-wise vaccination drive we have managed to double our vaccinated status. As of today, 69.5% people have received their first dosage compared to 35.7% a month ago.
