NAMSAI, Nov 4: The severe cyclonic storm which wreaked havoc in Namsai district on Tuesday midnight has left a trail of destruction ravaging dwellings, uprooting trees and dismantling electric poles.
“As of now, we haven't received an exact report on the extent of damage or casualties,” District Disaster Management Officer (DDMO) Emily Tinkhatra Dutta informed, adding that villages like Lekang, Deobeel, Piyong and Adi Ningroo have been hit and assessment reports of damages from the other Circles of the district are being awaited.
Giving an account of the havoc, one of the local residents informed that people had to run to safer places and the velocity of the storm was strong enough to uproot trees and topple residential houses. He also informed that electricity supply has remained disrupted since the storm struck.
