ITANAGAR, Sep 22: Following the Non-Bailable Warrant (NBW) issued from District & Sessions Court Bomdila against Executive Engineer, Chayangtajo, Nyakpu Yangfo in connection with the  Seppa-Chayangtajo road scam  on September 20  last, the Engineer surrendered himself before the court today.
Superintendent of Police, SIC(Vigilance), Dr. Hemant Tiwari( IPS) in a press statement, informed that Nyakpu Yangfo Executive Engineer was evading  arrest and had been on the run  since August 31 last after failing to appear before SIC(vigilance) following a summon. The SIC had conducted raids on multiple locations in Itanagar Capital Complex, East Kameng and Kurung Kumey districts to apprehend him but in vain.
Today at around 10:30 AM accused Nyakpu Yangfo surrendered before the District & Sessions Court, Bomdila and prayed to be released on bail in event of arrest. In the meantime, SIC has also submitted their request to grant 14 days police custody. Upon considerate deliberations Court has granted seven days police custody of the accused, informed SP (SIC).
SP also added that, Yangfo, apprehending his arrest had approached the Hon’ble Gauhati High Court, Itanagar Permanent Bench, Naharlagun, on September 7 last for grant of “Interim protection" which was denied. Again on September 14 last, the Hon'ble Gauhati High Court, Itanagar Permanent Bench, Naharlagun, heard the matter and rejected his pre-arrest bail application after finding it not a fit case where the privilege of pre-arrest bail can be extended to the accused/petitioner.

Nyakpu Yangfo who had been posted as AE (independent charge) Chayangtajo, PWD division w.e.f 20.08.2009 to 31.03.2011 during the first stint and subsequently posted as Executive Engineer w.e.f 04.07.2019 to 09.09.2019 during the second instant was wanted in the case of SIC(VIG)PS/C.No.2/21 US- 120(b}/420/465/471/409 IPC R/W SEC-13(1)(c) (d)13(2) of PC Act 1988,dated 5/03/2021.
Earlier on September 7 last, SIC had  arrested three people namely Executive Engineer (EE)Nacho PWD Division, Tare Murtem and former EE PWD, Bameng division, Doba Jini, and  Managing Director of M/s DRB Infrastructure Private Limited, Hyderabad, Ramesh Babu in the same road scam.
