BOMDILA, Jul 7:In an effort to offer basic comforts to visitors and  tourists flocking to popular travel destination Tawang through the Sela Pass, Deputy Commissioner, Sonal Swaroop on Friday laid the foundation stone for “Sela Pride” in a formal programme held at Sela Pass in the presence of GB Sange, Yeshi Tsering, Commander BRTF, RS Rao and others.

The initiative was a collective effort of the district administration Bomdila and Border Road Organization in order to assist tourists and adventurers, who during winter season visit Sela Pass and are often stranded and need relief shelter to survive the sub-zero temperature.

The rescue shelter will have a capacity to accommodate at least 30-40 people and provide emergency medical facilities, food and other amenities.

The need has been long felt due to increase in tourist traffic making a bee-line for Tawang and often stranded at the pass in heavy snowfall in the winter months.
