ITANAGAR, Feb 13: The State Employment Guarantee Council (SEGC) today approved 2.65 crore person-days for the Financial Year 2023-24 under MGNREGA for the state of Arunachal Pradesh.
The approval was made during the SEGC meeting held here today under the chairmanship of Rural Development Minister Bamang Felix in presence of Labour and Employment Secretary Ajay Kr Bisht, RD Director Kego Jilen, PR Director Tamune Miso, ZPCs and other council members.
During the discussions, the Minister expressed concern over lesser man-days generated under MGNREGA and asked the officials concerned to strengthen its performance.
Stating that employment to the beneficiaries under MGNREGA is a constitutional right enacted through the Act of Parliament, the Minister said that every officer concerned should ensure in achieving the set target.
Meanwhile, the house present discussed several challenges in ensuring employment under MGNREGA, including shortages of technical staffs and timely disbursement of wages.
