Khonsa, Dec 21: In a groundbreaking Counter-Insurgency operation launched by Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles along with Longding Police, on the evening of December 20, one self styled Corporal insurgent of Burmese origin of NSCN-K (YA) was apprehended.
Aa per our sources, Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles received input of two cadres in the area. Subsequently one was apprehended by the team of Assam Rifles along with Londing police. The apprehended cadre of NSCN-K (YA) has been identified as Self Styled Corporal Lonpho Gangsa, resident of Longoi village, Myanmar. The insurgent is an active cadre of NSCN-K (YA) who infiltrated into Wakka area along with another cadre for extortion and carrying out anti-national activities in the area. A pistol along with ammunition, Chinese grenade, extortion notes proscribed group and other war like stores were recovered from him. 
In a separate incident, the Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles along with Tirap Police apprehended one cadre of ULFA (I) from Noglo village of Lazu circle on Wednesday.
The apprehended cadre of ULFA (I) has been identified as Self Styled Sergeant Major Biju Bagti, resident of Dibrugarh. The individual is an active cadre of ULFA (I) and the cadre was from Hachi camp in Myanmar. It is reported that he was trying to cross the Indo-Myanmar Border, to reach Upper Assam and areas close to Arunachal- Assam Border, at a time when extortion in the area is rampant. Our sources informed that it is likely he had come to collect an extortion amount from Over Ground Workers of ULFA (I).
This year itself four cadres of ULFA (I) have been apprehended by the Security Forces from the area. The apprehension of the cadre is a major blow to the proscribed group which is carrying out anti-national activities from camps located across the Indo-Myanmar Border, the AR said in a statement.
