Overall voting percentage in state 73%; Longding highest with 86%

ITANAGAR, Dec 23: The State Election Commission (SEC) today announced that repolling will be conducted at eight polling stations in the three districts of Longding, Kamle and Upper Subansiri on December 24 (Thursday).
Speaking to reporters, State Election Commissioner, Hage Kojeen informed that although the Panchayat and Municipal polls across the state were held in a peaceful manner without any major incident on December 22 last, however, a few incidences of disturbance in the poll process at various polling stations have been reported to the SEC. 
The polling stations where fresh polls will be held are: 36-Konsa Boys Morong polling station under 6-Pongchau ZPC in  Longding district, 15-GPs Yorkum  and 16-GPs Yukar under 3-Kamporijo-I (ZP) in Kamle district, 31-Government ME School Bogia Siyum under Siyum ZPC, 32-Government Primary School Rava under 3-Siyum ZPC, 35 Government Primary School Keche under 3-Siyum ZPC, 5-Temporary Shed Dumba under 4-Taliha ZPC and in 158-Temporary Shed Nyumpu under 14-Lable ZPC in Upper Subansiri district.
While informing that 73% of votes was cast in both Municipal and PR elections, Kojeen divulged that full information from the far-flung polling stations are still coming in. “It is very encouraging that people have come out to exercise their democratic rights in huge numbers despite Covid-19 pandemic. Polling was held till 4 pm and in some polling stations it extended till 7 pm and also 9 pm in many,” he said, adding that no incident of violence was reported from any polling station, making the entire election process fully peaceful and successful.
Longding district has the highest voting percentage of 86% whereas Pasighat Municipal Corporation has the lowest with 53 %, the Commissioner informed. 
In West Siang district, voting for the Panchayat election was conducted in a peaceful atmosphere in 89 polling stations amid tight security.
As per SEC’s figures, there was 70.65% polling in the district and altogether 18,492 voters turned up with females (9485) outnumbering males (9007). No untoward incident was reported from any polling station. The Magistrates and police on duty escorted the ballot boxes to the receiving centres late at night on the poll day. A 24x7 vigil is being kept on the Control Room where the ballot boxes are kept under tight security arrangement till they are opened on the day of counting on December 26.
Peaceful voting was also reported from West Kameng district which saw a 74% voter turnout. 
Among a total of 51 polling stations, Government Primary School, Dibrick witnessed the maximum participation with 99.30%, whereas the one at Government Middle School, Pedung recorded the least with 53.41%. With DIPRO input
