ITANAGAR, Jul 10:

 

Itanagar Police arrested four people, including two government employees for assaulting journalist of a local daily.

The accused have been identified as Joram  Tadam-son of Joram Khoda of Tago Village, Tanya Raja-son of Tanya Doni, Yarda Sanjoy-son of Yarda Niki of Yarda village, all under Lower Subansiri district and Gokia Nehru-son of Gokia Ajay of Deve village under Kra Daadi.

 

Sanjoy is an IRBn constable who was recruited under sports quota and currently posted in Balijan while Gokia Nehru is Itanagar traffic warden.  

 

The police team consisting of SDPO Techi Hanyir, Officer In-charge, Itanagar Police station T Bage, Inspector RK Jha and investigating officer AK Singh led by SP Capital Dr A Koan cracked the case in less than 72 hours.

 

All accused are residents of IG Park/Forest colony and were arrested from Itanagar between Sunday and Monday.

 

The police informed that the four accused will be sent to judicial custody and that they have been booked under non bail-able sections of the IPC.The police have recovered the stolen items including the mobile phone and other documents from the four accused.Ranjit Sinha, the associate editor of a local daily was assaulted as he was returning home on July 7 last.
