ITANAGAR, Feb 19: The department of Science & Technology and Arunachal Pradesh state council for science & Technology (APSCS&T) will celebrate Science Week Festival as Vigyan Sarvatra Pujayate to pay homage and showcase India’s achievement in last 75 years of Independence from February 22 to 28.
Secretary Science & Technology, Ajay Chagti in a press briefing said that the festival is being held as a part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav planned by Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA), Ministry of Culture in association with Vigyan Prasar, Department of Science & Technology, GoI.
Stressing to give priority to science in every walk of life, he said Science & Technology provides solution at social, economic and environmental level. Advocating for adopting of future technologies like AI, Robotics, Machine Learning, IOT, Drone Technology, etc which are going to change the job profile in coming time, Chagti appealed to the youths to upgrade by developing skills in the emerging technology sector.
He said that the state government has already embarked on drone-based technology for various developmental activities such as delivery of medicines to remote areas, seed bombing using seed copter for rapid afforestation, opening of drone training school. He informed that the state government has signed an MOU with the World Economic Forum for using drone technology in health sector.
While highlighting the future road map of the state government, he informed that a conversation is in progress with Rajiv Gandhi Polytechnic and DNG college regarding opening of drone academy in PPP mode.
He also informed that establishment of Centre of Excellence for Science Technology, Innovation and Research (CoE-STIR) is going to be useful in skill development, research in cutting-edge technologies and development of start-up and entrepreneurship culture among the youth of the state.
Director Science & Technology, C.D. Mungyak elaborated on the different themes of Science Week Festival and informed that for every theme a national resource person will be invited to deliver their expert talk. The major attraction of the festival is screening of science films, science book fair, science literature, science demonstration etc.
