KIMIN, Oct 23: State bank of India (SBI) opened its 60th branch in the state here which was inaugurated today by SBI, North East Circle, Network-1,General Manager Sudhir Kumar Sharma amidst a huge gathering of HoDs, former PRI leaders, GBs and locals of the Kimin circle administrative headquarter of Papum Pare district.
Addressing the gathering the General Manager said that setting up a branch in Kimin was planned two years ago but due to some technical problems it was delayed. “With the inauguration of the branch today, one of the long-felt dreams of the people of the area has been fulfilled,” Sharma asserted adding that the bank will deliver its best services to the customers. Since one ATM is already installed under ITBP campus, he announced that two more booths will be installed under the township for customers’ convenience and smooth banking transactions. He also sought support from the local administration and senior citizens and well-wishers for smooth functioning of the bank. Also announcing that around five branches are likely to be opened in the state in next six months including various Customer Service Points (CSPs), Sharma hoped that the new facility would significantly help the local people in financial transactions. However, expressing concern over vandalism and defunct ATM booths, Sharma emphasized that ATMs are public properties which need to be maintained properly and requested all to maintain them in best ways and extend cooperation to bank in delivering better services. Speaking on the demand for an ATM at Naharlaugn Railway station, Sharma assured to send a team of officers to study its feasibility. Lauding the momentous step taken by SBI, Local leader Bamang Mangha said “ the branch will not only cater to the needs of people of surrounding areas but has come as great relief to the people accustomed to digital transactions.” He also appealed the SBI authority to give support to the needy people who want to avail bank loans and extend CSS to the beneficiaries from time to time.
