KHONSA, Aug 7: Observing the 6th National Handloom Day, State Bank of India, Khonsa branch extended in-principle sanction letters under ‘SBI Finance to Weavers/Weaving Groups’ scheme to the women Self Help Groups (SHGs) promoted by the North Eastern Region Community Resource Management Project (NERCORMP) in Tirap district.
Branch Manager Pronob Biswas handed over the in-principle sanction letters to Roshni SHG and Selenkong SHG for taking up handloom as an income generation activity in presence of the officials of NERCORMP. The District Project Director of NERCORMP emphasised that women SHGs should empower themselves economically through handloom activity with the credit support from the bank, adding that “development through credit” is the new mantra of economic prosperity.
